Cuyahoga County recently completed a comprehensive Countywide Housing Study, conducted by the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University. This study will serve as a long-term guide for shaping housing policy across the country, aiming to address the evolving housing landscape in today’s economy. Key issues that were identified include housing affordability, aging infrastructure, the need for robust rehabilitation programs, a shortage of habitable homes, challenges in the rental market, and the importance of intersectional, advocacy-informed approaches. As the County begins implementing the study’s recommendations, it plans to engage municipalities, developers, nonprofit partners, and residents in shaping solutions. The Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS® will continue to monitor these actions to ensure they align with the needs of local residents and will remain a strong advocate for property owners throughout the process.

County Executive Chris Ronayne stated, “We’re setting a new direction for Cuyahoga County– one where housing is not a barrier, but a foundation for opportunity.”
