Akron, Ohio – Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE, warns property owners about promotional mailings
from private companies offering paid title monitoring services, often following the recent recording of a
property deed.

Property owners should be advised that these services are not required. The Summit County Fiscal Office
provides this service at no cost to residents through the Property Record Alert system.

“The Summit County Fiscal Office offers a free alert system to help residents safeguard against property
record fraud,” said Fiscal Officer Scalise. “There is no need to pay a private company for this service”.

Property Record Alert is an alert system that notifies property owners when any documents are recorded
using their personal information. Property Record Alert generates and sends automated email alerts
detailing the recordings, which can then be used by residents to determine whether acts of fraud have
been committed or if the recordings are valid.

Important reminders for property owners:

  • These mailers are not sent by the Summit County Fiscal Office
  • You do not need to pay any company to monitor your property records
  • Property records are public information which private companies may use for marketing purposes

Residents are encouraged to sign up for Property Record Alert by visiting our Self-Service Site at
https://summitcountyoh-web.tylerhost.net/web/ and selecting the Property Record Alert button. Email
alerts can be configured based on first and last names, or business names.

Property owners who receive an alert that appears suspicious or fraudulent can contact the Summit
County Fiscal Office Recorder Division by calling 330-643-2712 or emailing summittreas@summitoh.net.
