Summit County

Barberton: Ordinance No. 8-2026 adopts a new Development Code for the City of Barberton and declares the measure an emergency. The ordinance establishes updated regulations governing development standards and procedures within the City.

Brimfield Township: The Township is currently working on a variety of zoning matters and has processed zoning text amendments. Additional zoning-related discussions remain ongoing.

Cuyahoga County

Bedford: The City is conducting a Master Plan update and has scheduled a public meeting on February 24, 2026, at 6:30 PM to gather community input. The Master Plan will guide long-term zoning, housing policy, and development priorities. The planning process is ongoing.

Cuyahoga County: Ordinance No. O2025-0011 establishes the right of county renters to utilize Pay-to-Stay provisions and declares the necessity for the ordinance to become immediately effective. Pay-to-Stay policies allow tenants facing eviction to avoid displacement by paying outstanding balances. The legislation has been introduced and remains under consideration.

Northfield: The Health and Welfare Committee announced it will hold a meeting in the coming months to discuss how the Village intends to regulate short-term rental properties. The matter remains under review.

South Euclid: An ordinance amends Chapter 943, “Tree Commission/Trees,” of the City’s General Offenses Code. The legislation is currently at First Reading and has been referred to the Service Committee.

South Euclid: Resolution Nos. 45-25 and 46-25 amend multiple sections of the Planning and Zoning Code, including yard and setback requirements, accessory structure regulations, and conditional use standards in residential and commercial districts. The legislation is at Second Reading and has been referred to the Zoning & Planning Committee for a public hearing.

University Heights: Ordinance No. 2026-14 amends Section 1480.11 of the City Housing Code pertaining to basement rooms. The ordinance permits the construction of basement bedrooms or sleeping rooms, consistent with the Ohio Residential Code, and eliminates the requirement for property owners to obtain a special use permit through the Board of Zoning Appeals. The ordinance becomes effective at the earliest date permitted by law.
